Which Job Should I Take?
-
I had two job interviews last week, (Thursday and Friday) with two great companies. I feel both interviews went well and for the interview on Thursday, I was told they would be making the decision early this week. I just got a call and was offered the job to start tomorrow! However, with the interview I went for Friday, I was informed that the second round of interviews would be scheduled this week and by Thursday or Friday, I would hear back either way if I was or was not being asked to partake in round 2 interviews. Problem is, while I do like the position I was offered today, I would actually prefer the job that I interviewed for Friday. (better company, better opportunity etc.) So here's the question. Do I call the interviewers from Friday and tell them I have gotten a job offer, but prefer to work for them? That's what I want to do, but I don't want to come off as pushy and that I'm rushing them since they said they would be calling me tomorrow or Friday either way. Do I take the job I was offered already as it's a sure thing right away? (I won't be able to quit that job to go to second round interviews for the other company though) So, do I turn down the current offer with only a "hope" of working for the better company that I have not even heard from yet, (calling the other company I want to work for and letting them know that I'm in demand, but I want to work for them) or do I take the sure thing that I was just offered and forget about the other job? I'm interested in any input anyone has on this.....especially people with a human resources background to see how they would feel if they were called with something like that.

In times like these, you are very lucky to get a job offer in a great company. I think you should already take the job offer you've got, they've offered you to start ASAP and that's how you know they are on top of things and they are very efficient. They sound like a great employer. I do not think you should call the interviews from Friday and say you had gotten a job offer, it will seem kind of pushy and employers always have a difficult and long time with the hiring process. Take your job offer. By working at this company, you will gain even more experience and then one day you will be more prepared to work in an even better company with more opportunities. It's all a matter of building experience and being open to new possibilities.
Are you financially stable enough that you would be ok if you ended up getting neither job? If not, then take the job that's guaranteed.
