What supplies do you need for a track?

I NEED ADVICE! Should I run track or get a job?

  • I have to make a very hard decision, and quickly. Do I run track or get a job?? Heres the story. I am a Junior in high school. I have been running track since 6th grade and running cross country since 7th. I love running a lot, but this past cross country season was a terrible experience. My coach is a very awkward person. He is very good at teaching you how to run, but he isnt very vocal about his support for you. I hated the past cross country season, and i dreaded every practice and meets. Im not the fastest runner, i just ran because i enjoyed it. To me, i always feel neglected by my coach, because his focus always seems to be only on the top 3 runner on our team. During the season, I didnt feel like i was improving either. The entire experience was just a negative one, and i think that is what is making me not want to do track. Despite the negativity, running track would keep me in shape, and some of my best friends are on the track team. we are very close knit, but this year, a lot of people are quitting for various reasons. My other option is to get a job. I basically got hired (nothing official yet though) a few days ago at a place were a few of my friends work. It would be very fun to get to work around them. I want to get a job for a few reasons: money, saving for college, and an opportunity to be working for myself instead of getting handed money from my parents. It would be a new chapter in my life, where i am able to fend for myself. I would also be able to help coach the team that i was on in 6th and 7th grade, and help out with the distance team. And even possibly have the opportunity to take guitar lessons instead of just teaching myself. Either way, there are benefits from both. And I know...I have my whole life to work. Im just so stuck in the middle with this decision, i need every opinion and piece of advice there is. Please help!!

  • Answer:

I'd say go for the job. It feels so good to earn a paycheck, and you can always still run in your free time with some friends to keep in shape.
