What does this mean on a job application?

What does in process mean on a job application status?

  • I recently applied for a job at Red Lobster in NY (different branches) ...and before when I first applied the all the application statuses said Applied ....now one of them says "in process" not in progress but in process... what does this mean ? are the considering me or something ?

  • Answer:

There are many companies and Reb Lobster is one of them, that conduct background checks on the information that you place on the online job application. With all of the applicants these can sometimes take a few weeks. The term "in process" simply means that they are processing your application. Ponder this, if you did not add any letters of recommendation, perhaps this is the best in that you have for a re-contact of this process, add the letters at least 2, and get into touch with the person that is conducting the completion of your application. Online applications are great but, some times they lose that all important human touch effect that is necessary to complete a job application, if you filled out a paper application, then you know who you turned it into and the rest is easy. Anyone person can issue a letter of reference. Youth group, previous employers, voluntary work that you may have done, go get them, add them and give you an edge over the next applicant.
