Can I get a job at a hotel with no previous work experience?

Does this count as hotel service experience?

  • Hi I just got a honorable discharge from the military after only being in for 8 months. I got hurt they flew me back home and put me to work at the barracks office checking people in and out of there room, room inspections, people calling for rooms basically a normal desk clerk at a hotel for 4 months before getting out. Well I was wondering does that count in the civilian world for hotel service experience because there is a assistance manager job at a inn which only needs front desk experience. Is there a chance for me to get a job in a hotel or is that not really experience they want?

  • Answer:

Yes it will help you to get this job. Military experience of any kind is prefferred in work environments, and having had experience already in a hotel type setting will boost your chances even more. Go in there confident and I'm sure you'll get hired soon.
