Why can't I find a job?

Why can't I find a job?

  • I know that the current job market is awful, but I've always struggled to find work. What am I doing wrong? I did well at school I got all A-C grades at GCSE, and I have three A Levels. I don't have a degree, is that what's setting me back? I don't even get to the interview stage for jobs and when I ask people that I've applied to work for for some feedback they never give it to me so i really don't know what I'm doing wrong. I am looking for administrative work as I have some experience in this field. I went to college last year to do City and Guilds IT courses to improve my CV and my job prospects. As well as office work I have also applied for care work which I have done in the past but I am getting nowhere. I'm getting very depressed as I feel I am in a big black hole that i cannot scramble my way out of. Please help! Any suggestions are welcome.

I have had the same problem I have all the qualifications as you do and yet still cant find a job but dont give up just keep applying for jobs and eventually you'll get one. As you say the job market is rubbish at the moment so it will take longer to get a job i even considered the forces.

The market is EXTREMELY tough right now. I have a Bachelors Degree, a Masters Degree and 14 years experience in my field and it STILL too me 11 months to find a job after being laid off back in 2008. I then had to go through THREE rounds of interviews, a reference check, a drug test and a TB test to finally land the job. So I have to tell you to just KEEP LOOKING. I looked for a job ACTIVELY, EVERY DAY for the last 11 months and after all the hard work I FINALLY got one. You just can't give up or get too discouraged. SOMETHING will come through...

I always find once I have a job it's easy to get a different one. Maybe take something not as hard to get for now and continue to apply for the position you really want. At least you will have an income while you're waiting for the job you really want. Also if you are new to the field it may be tough to break in. Maybe try some temp agencies. They may help get you a few temp jobs so you can build up some hands on experience.

i dunno you seem to have all the qualifications.
