Need Help in writing resume and cover letter?

  • Hi All, I need your suggestions on writing lines for the proper cover letter and resume for me. I have overall 5+ years of experience in the Software Industry working with Healthcare software Company in both development and testing. Now,i am looking for a job and found that my knowledge fits for both Software Development Roles and Buisness Analyst roles. For this-I need to make 2 resumes-one resume highlighting and stressing my Healthcare Domain Expertise (mainly functional knowledge)---This is for the Business Analyst Role. Secondly,one resume highlighting my techincal skills like SQL development,etc.--for the Software Development. So,could you all please help me with some lines on how could i prepare 2 resumes for the two above given roles. Any help would be appreciated. It would be highly beneficial for me to apply for a particular position accordingly from these 2 resumes. Thanks Rohit

    My suggestion is that you prepare your resume with a particular job in mind. this means first look for a job and tailor your resume for your prospective employer. If you are planning a general resume for a general job application then i would suggest you make only one resume outlining all your marketable qualities. Create a functional resume; do not crowd your resume with usless information and be honest.

I would make a custom resume for each. While the whole thing does not have to be drastically different, and some parts like education and job experience will be the same, you should have a different objective for each and maybe a slightly different skill set. Use a cover letter as a marketing tool. Sell your skills with it.
