What are some careers in art?

What are some good paying careers in art?

  • I am in my first semester of college right now and I still don't know what I want to do. I'm 20 years old, a female. I live in the U.S. I love art. I've medalled in several different competitions and I believe I have a natural talent. I really do think I am good at it. I am not great at math or science and art is what I really love...Any job recommendations? I don't want to be poor, and I'd prefer a steady paycheck so just being an artist is out of the question for me. I use pencils to draw and I don't care for doing art on the computer. I like drawing people and portraits. I can't be a teacher because I have a misdemeanor for theft and I don't want to take the chance of going through school to be a teacher and then getting out in the real world and realizing it was a big waste of time because no one will hire me. I've thought about being a tattoo artist as well. I enjoy helping people. I would love to become a speech therapist or someone who helps poor kids or people in need. Sometimes I wish I could be rich so I could buy a bunch of stuff and put it in backpacks and pass them out to homeless people. I get annoyed easily and although I maintain composure at all times I really don't care for being around a bunch of customers all day long or children. I get mad when people are inconsiderate of everyone else and I don't like cleaning up after people. I really don't think I would want to do any more than 4-6years of college, though. I get bored easily so I would love something that changes day to day, I love learning new things and having new experiences. I worked in fast food for about a year and it's the same thing over and over again and it gets really boring and monotonous. Any suggestions? Also, do you have any suggestions for jobs that I could get with an associates degree in art or a bachelors in fine arts that aren't related to art? Should I consider another type of degree? What jobs do you think I would like?

  • Answer:

You could become a set designer for play productions, or work on set designs for movies (if you could get the job).
