Which field in the IT is best for career in the future?

Future career field help?

  • I'm a freshman in high school so I know I have a lot of time to figure out what I want to do for a career, but I'm always changing my mind. The three careers I've narrowed it down to (for now) are an architect, anesthesiologist, or an orthodontist. I've always been interested in architecture and my high school has some classes using architectural programs like google sketch up. But after doing some research, i found that many people think that architecture is very demanding and it's hard to find a job and the pay isnt as good as it used to be. Also, I've been thinking of starting an architecture firm but I have little knowledge as to what it is. For an anesthesiologist, I know that medical school is very expensive and takes a long time to complete, but I know that the pay is very good. One problem with that is that I'm in an honors biology class and I struggle im it, and I know that class is essential to becoming anything in the medical field. Finally, I also have even thinking about becoming an orthodontist. I have had braces myself and before that had an overbite and underbite, so I would like to help people have a better smile and boost there confidence. However, I did some research and found that I need at least a bachelors degree, then I need to go to a 4 year dental school where I can stop and become a general dentist, or I can stay in school to specialize in orthodontics. The bad part about these career choices are that I'll need to spend a lot of time in school, and I don't want that to take up my 20's, where I can still have fun. I know this is a big question so thank you very much for answering.

  • Answer:

If you go the dental or medical route, your 20's will be spent in school/training. If that's not for you, don't even consider it. It's a huge investment of time, money and stress, and is not for everybody. Also, you will want to see how you do in college. Science courses ought to be easy for you, and you'll need pretty much all A's in college to be considered for dental or medical school. You are still VERY young, and the whole world is open to you. No need to decide anything now.
