Can I automatically send out an email on a given date?

How long should I wait before I send and email after the date I was supposed to hear back about a job?

  • I had an interview of the 15th sent a thank you email on the 16th. I then sent a follow up email on the 26th to get updated and was told they would get back to me within a week or less. It was a week yesterday. I am tempted to email them again today but don't want to seem too overbearing or annoying. How long without hearing from them should I wait to send another email?

  • Answer:

It doesn't sound too good if they have not come back to you by the time they said they would - however most companies are understaffed so deadlines are regularly missed. Give it a couple of days, then contact them. Try to talk to their HR manager and if told that you have been unsucessful ask for feedback on your interview and on areas where you were weak! Good luck!

I would give them a few more days and actually call at the beginning of the week. When I had this happen it meant I didnt get the job.

Wait until Friday, and then call them. A phone call is much more productive than an email because it lets you be more in control of the conversation and you will get a more immediate answer.
