How to become a freelance writer?

  • I want to become a freelance writer but I don't have any professional experience as a writer. I am 30 years old and have always worked in an office environment so my resume as a writer would be nil. However, I have always enjoyed writing and I have always been told that I should have been a writer so that is why I am looking into becoming a freelance writer. I just don't know how or where to start. I don't expect to get paid right away since I will have to build my resume to reflect relevant writing experience and I am prepared to work on a volunteer basis just to get some experience under my belt. Does anyone have any suggestions?
