How do I make a resume, if I never worked before?

If I am 19 and have only worked at KFC and Kmart should I still make a resume?

  • or would it be pointless

  • Answer:

If you want to move up in life and work at places better than KFC and Kmart, then you shouldn't even be asking this question. With that attitude, you'll probably keep getting KFC and Kmart jobs.

ABSOLUTELY! Everyone should have a resume, and you learn a lot of "transferable skills" in all entry-level jobs. You can now use these jobs, and your skills and achievements at them, as leverage to get a better job. Consider using an online resume writing service. I used The Resume Boss, and they hooked me up with a really good resume. Got me a job. :) They have some cheap packages for entry-level jobs/resumes, too.

Sure, although it will be somewhat limited. A resume should be targeted to the "new" job, so you really can't write your final one yet. However start getting together your list for possible inclusion onto the resume: jobs, skills, education, references, etc.

Go ahead and do a resume. It shows that you've had experience in food service, customer service, and retail; all things that potential employers like to know about. Good luck!
