How to target my resume to other jobs?

Should I put my website in my resume?

  • Hi I'm a business student looking for an internship in finance industry. My colleague and I recently developed and launched a self-budgeting web-based platform which allows users to set budget, link all their bank, and keep updated on their spending so they can meet their target budget. My question is, would it be beneficial for me to add this on my resume? Currently I put it down on my resume as "Founder & Developer of (website name)" but I'm not sure if I should keep this when submitting my resume. I think it may be good because it is finance related (sort of...) but also it may backfire as employers may think I'll be too preoccupied with these stuff to concentrate on their jobs or they may think I won't work hard because I have something to fall back to. What do you guys think? Should I include this on my resume? Thank you in advance~

  • Answer:

for the internship maybe not. The companies that give internships often are not interested in new or better ideas from the help unless you can make them think they thought of it themselves. When you are in the job market you will definately use it.

Personally I think it shows that your skills aren't limited to financing, and you have a good handle on technology in building the website. It also shows you have an interest in the subject, and this isn't just a fleeting fling.
