What can i do with a major in journalism?

What kind of careers can I get with a major in psychology and a minor in journalism?

  • I'm currently a junior in highschool and am trying to get a head start on my future. I know the things I'm most passionate and interested about is Psychology, law/ justice, creative writing, and Journalism. My dream career is a forensic psychologist/ journalist. Where I can engage in my career in understanding crimes and helping solve them then take this knoledge to better report these stories to the public. What would I need to do to achieve this? Or even get started.

  • Answer:

You "Seriously" need to make an appointment to sit down with your high school guidance counselor. This is what they are suppose to do.... gather information your asking about and give it to you to make a decision. Don't get overly concerned. Your only a junior. You have to first find a College you want to go to... apply to Colleges to see where your accepted. That should be your second step after talking to the Guidance Counselor. You need to (Narrow) down your interests. Your bouncing from journalism, to forensic, to law. These are all separate degrees. You also don't want a minor that makes little sense with your major .. or one that can't go well with the major. You need to third decide what you Really.. Really.. want to do. Do you want to be a lawyer? Well.. you can minor in Psychology or business. But.. you will get psychology in your classes. Do you want to be a journalist? Or a photo journalist? That would be great too.. business can also be your minor. It will help you if you wanted to open your own business or on the side. The College that accepts you and your grades are the ones who will ultimately give you the information your asking here. You have a computer obviously.. do a google search. You can ask google anything and you will find answers. For forensic sciences .. criminal justice classes and psychology will be required. Don't be overly focused on the minor because that means little to nothing. Its your major.. and if you decide to later get a Masters and PHD.. that is where the money is. Why not shoot for becoming an FBI or CIA agent with the government. You will need to aim higher and higher once your four year is completed. School is a long journey and commitment. Stay focused. Stay single. And climb as high as you can go with school.. and you will be okay in life. Good Luck.

Discuss your future with your high school counselor. Your counselor can guide you to the best college for you. Once you're accepted, you can talk to your college adviser about various majors and what classes to take. That's what they're there for. At this time the best thing you can do is keep your grades up so you can get into a really good school.
