I suck at my job !!! But don't want to quit advice !?
-
I'm training as a domestic gas engineer an plumber , working with farther who has done it all his life i'm 12 months into it . I suck I can't do simple tasks , and when I get to do some thing like pipe work and running pipes I take 5 goes at doing something before it Is half decent when my older brother does the same thing In 10 mins. I want to be better as good money can be made an on the rare occasion I pull a task off I enjoy it . I just feel I'm taking 10 times as long to learn stuff as most people. I also am letting my farther down as I'm constantly asking how to do stuff I should know.

Answer:
some stuff just requires a natural talent, you might not get better at it, but if you are going to get any better, its going to be from practice and asking questions

Perhaps you would be better in OTHER ways in the family business. Are you good at math? maybe working in the office with accounts and payroll would suit you better. Or maybe you have skills at selling the business or advertising it? Maybe you even have a talent for finding great deals on supplies? Ask your dad if he'll let you try supporting the business in other ways. Surely you know your strengths, and I'm sure they are valuable somehow!

Have you asked yourself if that sort of job is for you? It sound you don't have a career in that field. Why don't you try easier jobs that you can handle easily? There are plenty of online jobs in the net that doesn't require much of skills. For instance, you can try answering paid surveys from various survey sites. There are already a lot of people making money through this one. Even teens make money through online jobs. You need to find one before your employer realizes that he can get someone better than you.
Do you trust your father? Ask him honestly if you are making progress before you give up. If he is not ultra-critical or condescending, this may be a good move. Everyone feels useless and stupid while they are learning new things. However, you may realize that its not your proficiency just as well ... but try to get some feedback. Sometimes we feel a certain way and then find out that everyone else in the same position has felt that way at first too.
