Do you get paid for training hours in a new job?

Will I get paid after I'm finished training?

• I just received my first job at a local grocery store near my house. When I went to my interview, the supervisor told me that I was not going to get paid the first few weeks of work because of training sessions and such. Does this mean I do not get paid at all, or is it just put off until I receive my first payment? In other words, do I get paid for these hours, or am I just working for free?

  That sounds odd and illegal. We pay for training hours by law. So I you need to clarify with them before you begin.
