Information for a resume?

Should I include information about being unemployed on my resume?

  • I was laid off from a job and didn't have another job for over a year. I was collecting unemployment and going to technical college during that entire span that I was unemployed. Should I include this information in my employment section of my resume to explain the gap between jobs??

  • Answer:

Yes, all gaps in employment should be accounted for... Briefly explain why you were unemployed and tell them that you were going to school during this period of time.

Yes. An employer will always question you about gaps between jobs, it will reflect better on you if you include details of course's you took whilst unemployed - to show you kept busy while out of work.

the employment section of your resume is only for...guess what...employment info...

well make sure you put on your cv you have been at college so the employer will be able to see for themselves you weren't just doing nothing. so what you should have on your cv is one section of the jobs you've had and another section with education info.
