How do I get a job as an EMT-B?

What should I do? I am in desperate need for advice on how to get a job/money!?

  • I know that times are tough for everyone, and I really need some advice on what I should do at this point. I do not have a job and I have almost no money left. I live in Toronto, Ontario and I have tried many resources - tons of internet sites, handing out resumes EVERYWHERE, making cold calls, etc. Sometimes people say they aren't hiring and sometimes people take my resume and say they'll call me but never do. I have had 4 job interviews in the past year but I never got the job. I have applied for all kinds of places - restaurants, fast food, stores, customer service, telemarketing, jobs on farms or with horses. How the hell do I get a job? I live in a very big city. I have applied for jobs out of province even, willing to relocate for work, but never got any responses back. I have had my resume edited for me and I know it is in good shape. I have tried to get help from job agencies but they either say there are no jobs that fit my application, or they say they'll call back and never do. What should I do? How do I get a job? What do I do if I run out of money? I am a normal and respectable girl, I have never had any mental illnesses or drug problems or anything like that, I cannot see myself becoming homeless! Applying for social assistance I was told to take a questionnaire, and I did it, and all it said at the end is that I do not qualify! Pretty much the same thing that happened for EI and welfare. My rent is only $300 a month and I only spend $100 a month on food but I have no income and no way to pay these things and I am $15,000 in debt. I am in debt because I went to university, but then I had to quit university after a year and a half because I could not afford to both pay my tuition and school expenses as well as pay my living expenses. There are not many jobs out there and I think that even when there is a job available, I am the last person somebody would like to choose. I have never worked a permanent full-time job before. When I was in school during better economic times I worked only summers, so there are many gaps on my resume and this makes it look like I only lasted 3-4 months at each job I have had. I am a 20 year old girl living on her own but I am small and look very young and on first impressions a lot of people might think I look like I'm 12 years old. I look like a little girl, nobody wants to hire me. What am I supposed to do? I am truly lost at this point with nowhere to turn for advice. I really need ideas on how to get a job/money.

  • Answer:

just get a bunch of small jobs you really dont need experience for. babysit, dog walk, mow your neighbors lawn. stand outside of home depot if you have to. or you can always ask mommy and daddy.

I would suggest that you continuously follow up on the jobs that you have applied for call them back, ask them hey i brought in my resume and was wondering if you had a chance to go through it. You can try calling people from the interview back and asking if a decision was made. Stay on top of what you apply for show your interest until they say they are not hiring at the time. your doing very good financially i think just need to get that job, I am further in debt and didn't go to college yet. good luck
