Why is it so hard to find a job?

  • for the past 3 months i have been searching for jobs, i have gone over so many interviews but i seem to be missing the last step that's needed. I do my best at interviews but there are better persons than me who get the job...i recently graduated with postgraduate degree, and at the moment i'm looking to find any job but i don't seem to like get any.:(( cleaner, waiter, barstaff, retail whatever i can even ready to work on full time for 40 hours :) everyone says cv is good and i'm doing well in interviews but i just have no experience in anything :(( i took up a marketing job for 3 months to get that customer experience it went well but it was more like comission based, so once i gained enough experience i left the job feeling with this experience i would get something but i think i made a wrong decision because now not even an interview :(( recently, i got a interview call from next and when i told them i lost my insurance card but i have the number they said company policy we require card, i called DWP and they said they've stopped issuing cards if the company has any question they can call them. I rang up to the store and explained it but they still stuck to the card policy and declined me :(( i mean WTF is there any reason to even live now? :(( i'm so frustrated right now

  • Answer:

"Why is it so hard to find a job?" Because the unemployment rate is at its highest for 15 years. Because Britain, Europe and most of the developed world are still in a deep recession.

No employer will touch you without an ni card fact, You contact Revenue and customs (google the site) and they will help you. The job situation as stated by a previous answerer is tough and not made any easier by the fact there are a lot of highly qualified people around, few actual full time jobs these days (16hr kiddy credit friendly ones) you just got to raise your game to stand out. Consider volunteering, it'll get you experience and a fresh job ref far better chance of getting lucky if people see you are doing something other than sitting on your backside moaning.good luck:)

Just persevere, there's a heck of a lot of competition out there right now, qualifications alone just don't cut it as you found out. I recommend volunteering for a while ( you can do a certain amount without affecting your benefits and look again at marketing/sales, you can learn awesome lessons there if you decide to set up your own business later on.) Your next step is to find a job from a job it's very hard to find a job from unemployment. You can also try temping as a foot in the door with companies. Another option is to go round to companies even if they're not advertising jobs available and tell them you really want to work for them in xxx capacity and ask what they'd want to see you get in the way of qualifications and experience and go get them, it'll stand you in good stead when you have those qualifications and experience the interviewer may well remember you're attitude of seeking them out prospectively and that could give you the necessary edge over the competition (although it probably won't as so many other people are doing it so if anything it'll just allow you to compete on a level playing field). By far the most difficult and demoralising way of looking for a job is to look through newspapers and send off a CV and wait for an interview and get dressed up in a suit and go to an interview.

You need to get that card sorted out. Write a letter keep ringing. Check your CV and covering letters over by yourself and someone else. How often are you job hunting by the way. There are plenty of people around who, amidst the uncertainty and the difficulties, have been thriving. Some have changed the direction of their careers – perhaps finding success through turning a hobby into a business. Others have been inspired to enhance their skills in order to pursue new opportunities. Wish you well.
