Can I get some career counseling?
-
I really need some help! I am constantly changing my major. I set huge goals for myself but I can't stick to them long enough to attain them. I'm looking for some ideas for what might be a good job for me to go into, based on my interests. Here is my list of majors in chronological order: Physics Dance Anthropology Nursing and now I'm considering switching to Environmental studies. This is not to say that I don't like nursing anymore, or any of my previous majors. But I'm just interested in so many things that I want to try them all. I'm also interested in art. Photography and video mostly. I don't have training in that but hey, I could :p Surely someone out there could look at my interests, notice how they are connected and tell me my perfect occupation! Thanks :)

Answer:
Your perfect career is one that you can enjoy (within reason) and still provides you the opportunity to have a life outside of it. Nursing is nice because it is always in demand, pays well and provides good benefits. Plus, you can also work per diem which really opens up your schedule.

Nursing is a great field and makes good money. I think you might have to just choose a career and then explore the others as something recreational interest you do in your spare time. Nursing is the most solid career choices from the ones you listed.
Let's take a look..... Physics - Science with lots of math. Dance - Technically a science, lots of movement, physics related due to balance, force, etc. Anthropology - study of humanity Nursing - Healing Humanity Environmental studies - healing the environment.... video and photography - very artistic, creative... ok let's see....we add in all of those and we come out with..... Gym Teacher and Dance teacher. You'll get the opportunity to work with the sciences and art, utilize video and photography for performance studies, enrichment of humanity via the arts, and inspiring more creative minds. Also known as Choreographer. In college this would require a kineseology major to learn more about the body, movements, muscles, etc. You can supplement proper care with some nursing classes, video and photography classes as well. Really, you're young. Don't worry too much about exactly which career you end up in. When I was in college, I was looking to go for radio, tv, film production. Now I am a recruiter for a healthcare company.
