Interview for Security Job, Legit or Scam?
-
Hello, well ill get to the point. I live in NYC and i found an ad on craigslist for Security Jobs and i decided to call and see if i will qualify to get a job. Well I told them I had no training, and they told me they will train me for 100$. Now i dont know if it is a requirement to even have some form of security training, but they said that the 100 dollars goes to a certificate from NYS. After that they also told me that i will then have some balance of 290$. I dont know for what, maybe its because they found me a job. But During the interview, they only asked me one question which was "Tell me something about yourself". Well i gave them a basic answer and then they told me well You look like a clean cut guy and we would like you to work for our company. And then they insisted that i bring 100$ for training. So im sitting here wondering if this is a scam, since they didnt even look at my resume and basically the interview was less then 10 minutes or 5. I even filled out an application and they didn't even look at it. So Can someone tell me if you have prior experience with a security Agency with no prior experience, did you go threw the same thing? I Literally broke and i cannot afford to pay for training and then find out i wont get a job. BTW their office is on 80 Broad Street In lower Manhattan, on the 6th floor. If anyone had any experience with this place Please do let me know if there legit, or scamming me. I rather get trained on the job then pay for training and be dropped. BTW i don't know the companies name, but i might call them and ask them so i could do some more research. Any Advice will be major help for me, Thank You!

No one should EVER charge you to give you a job. Look up the name of the company on line, Google it. also check with the BEtter Business Bureau. It sounds quite fishy to me. I would run like hell from that place, and keep lookin'. Good luck!
sounds like a scam to me.
You don't mention the company name but this sounds like it could be a scam. I would guess they get everyone who applies to pay $100 for the training then never contact you about a single job The NY Attorney General's office is currently investigating security guard training scams http://www.ag.ny.gov/media_center/2011/sep/sep22a_11.html I would contact the Attorney General's office to report this to make sure this is not a scam If this were a real job training fees should come out of your first paycheck. You should not be asked to pay upfront before you get a job
NEVER take a job that charges you to train you. NEVER!!!! That is a scam. What is the name of the place?
sounds like a scam to me too. :) good luck
