How To Build A Resume?

How do I build a good resume with no job experience?

  • I am 17 years old, 18 in July, just out of high school. I have recently moved to Canada from Scotland. I had one job back in Scotland but it was a part time job while I was still at school in a fast food restaurant with a high staff turnover (mainly due to the owners not treating their staff well) so I have no references for that. I have one personal reference. How do I build a good resume? I really need a job. (Btw, I am looking for a job in the food industry, like as a barista or whatever)

  • Answer:

Chances are that nobody is going to call Scotland to check a reference for an entrance-level job. Base your resume on what you have: school, volunteer work, and interests (especially as pertains to the food industry). Get another personal reference or two.

Other answers

You're probably going to have to take any job you can get to prove that you're a good worker before you'll have a chance to get a job you really want.

You don't need a resume for the type of job you're looking for, just go in and fill out an application.
