Why can't I find a job anywhere?
-
Basically I've been unemployed now since November 2011. I've tried every means possible to get a job but nothing seems to be working. I've been to college I have average but good GCSE's results and I have good A level results, I don't have loads of work experience as I only recently started working last year. I only left my last job as it was based on comission only. I've tried everything, Job sites, Job Centre, walking around the town to find shops advertising and job agencys. I just cant seem to find anything decent, or I am not able to get to the interview stage due to lack of experience. I find it ludicrous how people like myself who have been through education and are trying hard don't get given a chance, anyone got any tips for me?

Answer:
I'm looking for a job as well, been unemployed since July 2011. It's annoying how job descriptions ask for experienced staff. You could do voluntary work or consider any relevant courses/qualifications e.g. food hygiene course, advanced driving course depending on what you want to do. I volunteer in a hospice and I enjoy it.

Keep trying. You're not alone. Sometimes, you have to think outside of the box. You might try something you DIDN'T go to school for.Sometimes, that can lead you down a different path. also, if you have any hobbies -- perhaps you can tap into that somehow. One more suggestion... volunteer! It's good for the community and an awesome way to network.
You have to know what you want to do. Be specific. If you don't have job skills, get job skills. "I just cant seem to find anything decent" You have to be willing to start at the bottom and climb your way up. So you don't have a network. Join groups (church?) to meet more people. Network with your parents friends and family if your friends are in the same position. Ask everyone you meet if they know someone who knows someone who knows of a job you can apply to.
keep trying.. try some different job sites also. have you tried craiglist or http://jobisite.com
You're not alone. The United Kingdom is still facing a job crisis, and people with your qualifications have a hard time finding jobs there. Unfortunately, the situation is unlikely to improve in the near future, as shown in the articles below. A possible way out is to specialize in some career where there are still vacancies where you live. I don't know how bad is the situation in the UK, as I'm from a country (Chile) where the crisis hasn't hit yet and there are even some employers desperately looking for workers at certain industries (such as construction, retail and software development). It looks awful, though. Last time we had an economic crisis, I was about to quit my job, yet I had no choice but to cling to it and make myself indispensable. To this day, that strategy has worked rather well...
Tell me about it, I'm in the same situation. I handed out like 16 more resumes today I'll be surprised if I hear back from any of them -,-
