Better to work a so-so job for more $$ or make less and do what you enjoy?
-
Do you think it's better to have a job that you don't love (but you don't hate), that pays you more money, enough to comfortably afford to do all of the things you enjoy on your off time...or is it better to make significantly less money doing what you love as your full time job? I ask because I'm in this situation where I have a very good job with a nationally recognized company and am in the beginnings of what promises to be a rewarding career. I don't love my job or my field, but I don't dread going to work, either. It certainly affords me the ability to spend money on the things I DO love (my horses, cars, trips, etc). My dilemma is, should I stick with doing something that is underwhelming, or should I go for it, go back to school for something I'm interested in, and make less money but thoroughly enjoy my career field...? Opinions?

Answer:
Isn't that the million dollar question?! I guess it depends on how much you love money, and how much you love what you love. My advice would be to try to live on less while you're still making more before you actually make the decision and see how you like it. Keep this in mind though, even if you go to school for something you are interested in, it doesn't guarantee you a job you are going to love. Then you'd be stuck with an okay job with much less pay. You'd have to be willing to take the risk, or find a way to pretty much guarantee yourself a job that you will be happy with.

Life is too short to do a job you don't love just for the money. Unless the field you are interested in won't allow you to pay your bills, then I'd go with your passion. It's great that you make good money, but you don't want to go through life saying, "Well, I don't HATE my job." You should like your job and enjoy what you do. And also, if you have a passion for something, you'll do it well and excel at it. You can make good money in MOST career fields. If you mentioned what other field you're interested in, I could delve deeper into an answer, but I hope this helped anyways.
its all about the money mane.. you can alway do what u love later
