Are there any legitimate Virtual Assistant companies out there?

Why do companies advertise jobs with fancy names like "catering assistant"?

  • ... when really it is just "burger flipper" in mcdonalds?

  • Answer:

A catering assistant would assist a burger flipper, hence the name. You start as a catering assistant and work up to burger flipper, therefore you only see the catering assistant jobs advertised. You can't just go in at burger flipper level, that would be ridiculous.

Everybody like a little respect, and job descriptions often try to add that. A housewife is really a domestic engineer, and that's deserved. Occasionally, the choice does hide some of the less appealing duties, but all you need to do is ask. "What exactly are the duties of this position?"

Because people like their egos, they like their egos to remain intact and thy like their egos to be stroke. An ad for "Burger Flipper" wouldn't return many applications. "Catering Assistant" sounds a lot better.

Well would you apply for a job that advertised general dog's body? Domestic Engineer........scrubber? Not exactly very appealing is it?

It sounds better, basically. Some fancy job titles are OK - that one is fine, for example, but some just make things sound a bit odd. Or needlessly fancy.

No you are working in a concession stand for min wage.
