Applying for a job ????????help?

Applying for a job ; please help ? details inside :) & thanks in advance !?

  • hi everybody :) okay so im going to give alot of details because im looking for a detailed answer, or some good advice :) i will pick the best answer, not one of the people that ask for help but dont give points :p alright, i applied at Eat N Park about 3 weeks - 1 month ago. I filled out my application while having lunch there and the manager asked if he could speak with me.. we went to talk in a booth and he basically went over my application and seemed happy. he told me because of the snow (Pennsylvania..lol) that they didnt have enough hours for the people already working there but they do need to hire people. He said he was interested and would call me in 2-3 weeks and that if he didnt call me it wasnt anything personal, but he wanted me to call him. It was about 3 1/2 weeks later (3 days ago) so I called and asked to speak with the manager and the manager i talked to asked me to come in the next day at 10am. I was there at 9:50am, he interviewed me for about 15 - 25 minutes and seemed happy. He also thought that the other manager already hired me (i sneaked a peek at my original application and it said " Good! =) " on the top of it. The manager that interviewed me just yesterday and said they definitely need workers and would talk to the other manager and call me, he said he would try and call me later on that day. It hasnt been long, and i understand they are busy with tons of other stuff, it has been 2 days, 3 days tomorrow, and still no call. I am not a stupid person, i dont think that everybody is real and i know alot of people are good at putting on shows, but at the same time.. both managers seemed interested and that they would like to hire me and both said that. The problem I am having is that I am looking for a job because I need money right now, but I would like to work at this certain place but I have a problem with the fact that I have not got a call yet. I dont know if they are trying to make sure that I really want the job by playing games, or if they dont want me to work there, or what is going on?? You dont have to read the next part im going to write, but im going to write it for those of you that have time on your hands and dont mind :) Okay, Im 16 years old, im a female, and I am clean cut. I am in cyber school because I didnt do well in my freshman year at highschool because I had ADHD, which my doctor didnt give me meds for until just this summer before I started cyber school. My grades have went up, alotttt. I have all A's & B;'s and I love cyber school. I would be able to work any day, any time, and would have transportation... i did mention that to them. I had no jobs before this job that were considered being hired, etc., but my aunt and her boyfriend recently opened a very nice resturaunt that I was "volunteering" at for about 2 months in total. In the time I worked there, I worked 8 hour shifts, and sometimes started at 8am and didnt leave until 10:30pm with a 15 minute break... which was my choice. I was the host, waitress, and bused my tables. I was getting on average $45 - $100 a day in tips... sounds ridiculous and while counting my tips I didnt believe it half the time. But that was all I got paid for working there no matter how long I worked because I was helping out. What would your advice be about Eat N' Park, should I call them and ask what the status of my application is or what should I do? Im getting so stressed out because I feel like a month has gone by and they are making it seem like they want me to work there yet I havent got the call, should I go look for other jobs, what should I do? Any advice on applying, etc.,? Thanks sooo sooo much ! :)

  • Answer:

Store managers aren't (or shouldn't) be playing games, so my guess is they were just too busy to get in touch with you that day, or they needed to verify your references or something. If they haven't called within a week, call back. Make it very clear you are still interested in working for them, and ask if they need any more information from you. Hopefully this will prompt them to say that they're waiting on clearance from corporate to hire you or whatever the reason is that they haven't called back yet. Feel free to say that while this is your first choice, you may have to start looking for other opportunities if it doesn't look like they'll be able to hire you soon. The trick is to demonstrate your interest/persistence without getting annoying.
