Is checking the status of a job application worth it?

How do I go about checking the status of a job application?

• So Sunday, I filled out an application at American Eagle. I really feel like this will be a good job for me. I've been calling checking on the status of it and they keep saying, if they need me & see something they like, THEY will call me. I'm a little nervous bc I don't have any job experience, so idk how they will go about seeing something that they like..I called again today..and he wrote my name and number down..so that's a step forward. How do I let them know that this is REALLY where I want to be?!

  I know you are anxious about getting this job, but trust me, you are making a pest of yourself by your frequent calls. The man said he wrote down your name and number. Do you truly believe him? Sometimes to politely get off the phone with someone who calls way too often about his application status - this line is used, You are hurting your chances by calling too frequently. They already get it that this is where you REALLY want to be. Take all that energy of your and apply at other places.
