Dual Career Question?

Career question, economic failure is causing me to change career ?

• We obviously know what is going on with the economic dilemma, and for the country as well as for me its a horrible thing. I'm 18 years old with a high school diploma, I recently got the series 7 license to become a full time stockbroker. Unfortunately, the economy is making this career very frightening for me. At this point in time I am not considering to be a full time college student, however, I am going on the weekends. Prior to pursuing my stockbroker career, I wanted to become a real estate broker and I already had my real estate license but I figured this was a better opportunity. Does any one have a recommendation as to what I can do involving sales and marketing with out a college degree which has no correlation with the economy. For now I will weather the storm and give it some time but if this economic slow down turns out to be a 10 year trough then I do not have a choice but to reconsider... THANX

  I know this probably doesn't help, but you are very young still and do have time to make other choices. Either career, stockbroker or real estate, is not exactly booming right now. Anything to do with medicine always seems to have job openings, perhaps you could go into medical supply sales, or something like that. I think you could find something interesting in the medical field to work with and you could still be in sales. Unfortunately, people aren't going to stop getting sick. So,there is some job security there. Good luck!!!! By the way, if you already are qualified for both your career choices at age 18, you are obviously a very bright guy, so don't worry, you'll be ok.
