I need help finding a job?
-
I need help finding a job. I send speculative letters to employers and I use the internet to look for vacancies and I have registered with employment agencies. What else can I do? I find agencies in particular disappointing... You've guessed it. I'm clueless! But seriously, what else can I do, and in particular I want to reduce my reliance on agencies. Thanks.

Hi, it sounds as if you may be using a scatter gun approach? Are you clear about what your skills are and what your enthusiasms are? Have you worked out which employers would pay for those skills and interests? Target them specifically, find someone who works in that firm and ask them to 'open the door' for you. That maybe taking your Cv into the HR department or asking their boss to look at it. Recommendation is critical. It is generally easier to get a job when you are in employment and with Christmas coming up there may be shop jobs available. You may not want shop work long term but getting a job and keeping it proves to the employer that you can be reliable and get up in the morning etc. Agencies are not there to help you, you don't pay them, so give them a break ..... lower your expectations of them and accept that fact and persevere. Is your CV keyword rich? they out it in a database and it needs to have the right keywords in it. There is loads more advice to be had if you look on my website: maryhopecoaching Good Luck

I heard they were taking people on in McDonald's. If your overweight and have acne then you would get a job for sure. If you got stuck in and worked hard, within a couple of years you could be the top dog wearing a badge that said manager on it!! Jurassic park!
Doesn't everyone, consider joining the army, navy or RAF
what are you looking for as maybe then we can give pointers?
Make a real, focused effort on one particular type of company. Spend time trying to figure out what would interest you to do, learn about the types of jobs they have, pick one that you would be qualified for, research the companies so you know about them, and then spend time trying to figure out who to talk to at each company. Tell them why you like their company, why you want to work in their industry and how you can help them. That will help you build a career, if that's what you want.
Don't we all lol
