Can somebody make a living on a part time job?
-
Im 14 and not sure what part time job yet but... Is it possible to live on a part time job?
-
Answer:
Firstly, good for you - I hadn't a clue what I wanted to do at 14. Good luck with your writing. Secondly, you'll probably find that as you grow up the question changes to "how do I make time to write what I want?" - the harsh reality is that most authors *never* make a living from what they do, but many writers (journalists, technical authors, etc.) are quite able to support themselves and their families. So it's all about choices: do you get a job completely unrelated to writing and make time to write, or do you get a job that involves writing and find time to work on your own stuff. You've some years yet until you have to make those sorts of decisions so for now, just keep writing! If you want to read a really inspiring book, try Stephen King's 'On Writing' (Amazon link below) - before he made it big, he worked really, really hard

At the age of 14, yes you can make a living on a part time job. Anyway, you have to balance on your time between school and work. But if you are a grown up and you're paying bills and so on, a part time job is much like a struggle in life. At your age, your parents are still the ones who pay for the bills, buy all the household supplies and I believe, they are the ones who pay for your school fee. They'll have to think about paying the house and cars and even some debts every month. As you're growing up, bear in mind that you'll have to work hard in school now in order to achieve a comfortable life in the future. Anyway, I think being an author is awesome. When I was your age, I wanted to be an author too but in my country, the pay is not that much. So I end up being a teacher. Anyway, I wish you luck in everything you do. Cheers :)
