How do you write a resume with no type of work experience?
-
Hello everyone! I'm an 18 year old high school senior who is seeking work for the summer before I go off to college this fall. I have my eye on some places to work such as: Target, Best Buy, Kroger, Ross, Hot Topic, JC Penney, maybe GameStop, and maybe Old Navy. I, for one, refuse to work at fast food restaurants. I wouldn't mind being a hostess or waitress at restaurants like: Longhorn, Olive Garden, O’Charley’s, Chili's, Applebee’s, etc. My question is how would someone like me write a resume with no type of work experience? I've never worked before a day in my life. I've only done chores around the house and had received an allowance. I'm really nervous about being out in the real world and working just to get me by and to help out my mom a little. I also have another question. Picture this. Let's say I'm at an interview and I have less experience than the other possible choice. How could I convince the employer that I'm a better choice for the job than the person with more experience? Reminder: I'm really new to the whole working scene. I'd love to have a job just to give me something to do over the summer than sit at home being bored while my mom is at work. I'd love to have a job so I can meet new people, and have my own money. I'll ask both again: How can someone like me write a resume with no work experience? How could I really convince an employer to hire me over someone with more experience? I would also really appreciate if you guys could tell me if working, at the above places mentioned, is a good/fun experience or a bad one. Thanks and have a great day! :)

Answer:
Put down on the pertinent information about yourself first, address, phone, number, schools attending or attended, baby sitting is a job sort of, mention anything that you feel strengthens your case for yourself in the Responsibility heading, sports teams, teamwork spirit, special newspaper classes in High School or whatever, church (but remember God is watching.)
