What are my career/job options as a UCLA undergraduate dropout?
-
I'm currently half way through my senior year as an undergraduate at UCLA but at this time in my life, I have little to no motivation to continue and am considering formally withdrawing from school. Ever since transferring into UCLA a year and a half ago, I've had an exceptionally difficult time keeping up with the coursework loads, and am in constant battle with myself as whether to drop out or not. I've sought help for severe clinical anxiety (I currently go to therapy and take medication), much of which is caused by my studies and have also met with academic counselors at school. Of course, due to the UC bureaucratic system they were limited to make only a few accommodations for me, and at this point I feel hopeless. Basically, I'm only allowed to take a 1 quarter (10 weeks) leave of absence, and if I don't return after that I am subject to academic dismissal from UCLA. This is just not sufficient time for me to take back control over my anxiety. It may sound silly to those who don't understand or have anxiety/panic disorder, and believe me, I wish I could make it disappear but it is something that will take a lot of time and help to overcome. The bottom line is my health comes first and school is not a healthy environment for me right now. If anyone could PLEASE give me some advice as to job/career options for someone like myself, a soon-to-be college dropout. I'm interested in a beauty marketing/merchandising career but is this even an option for someone without a bachelors degree? I'm feeling desperate and would appreciate any feedback and advice. Please help! And thank you! P.S. I am an Art History major but b/c I am a transfer student I was unable to change my major.
