What is the difference between filmmaking and digital filmmaking?

How do I move from a secure office job to independent filmmaking?

  • I'm 27 and hate my current job as a Data Entry clerk. I was a caseworker, but the company shut down our department and moved my team to a different one. I would really love to get into filmmaking, since it's all I think about. I have written and am attempting to write several scripts, gone to seminars and courses. However, my family want me to stay in my office job as the company allows for my disability (arthritis) and they don't see my filmmaking ambition as serious. What are the pros and cons? How can I convince them (and myself)?

  • Answer:

Open your phone book and look up videography or videographers. Depending on where you live, these listings will be your local event, wedding, and documentary film crews that do low-level and mid-level projects. Start talking to them. They might have an opening, and they will probably be more than happy to discuss or show you the filmmaking profession. Another good source of information and advice is any professor that teaches media, filmmaking, or media arts at your local college or university. You can also try visiting your local television stations and speaking with some of the production crew and camera operators.

You need to do what you want.... If i have learned anything in my life its to not listen or let others run your life. Even if the filmmaking doesn't pull through, you will have the experience, you will be able to say that you tried, and you will have a lesson learned in the end. you might be interested in trying out the filmmaking, with this contest. if you win, you can work the job for a day... this will give you the chance to see for yourself if you have a shot (at the very least)
