Where do you go to get a good job - employment agencies, online, school?

Why do I need to go to an employment agency to get this job?

• I applied at a country club for a line cook, I had the interview they called me and said im hired and they want me to go to an employment agency tomorrow. What is an employment agency? and what will I need to do there? also this will be my first job and im 18 years old. Thanks.

  We often use a temp service as well for the first couple of months with a new employee. Basically, you will fill out all an application with the temp agency and fill out all the tax and payroll information with them directly. You will be paid by the temp agency for a period of time while the company evaluates whether they want to keep you. (The company that hired you pays the agency a fee to use them as a "payroll service" like this.) The reason companies do this is so that they can evaluate the person without all the hassles that occur with termination if it doesn't work out. You will be the temp agency's "problem" if they decide to terminate you. But don't let that scare you. You got the job, but will be on the agency's books until the company decides to bring you onto their direct payroll. Congrats and good luck!
