My store manager does not like me and wants me to go , what should I do ? ?
-
I work for Bed Bath & Beyond. I have worked there for 5 years. I just told my store manager 3 weeks ago that I was looking for employment elsewhere. Due to lack of hours provided and pay $$. Since then she has treated me differently than before. Before she was very friendly and outgoing now she is not. Today I was late for the 3rd day in a row. I am normally never late , being late does not have anything to do with me looking for employment elsewhere. She approached me and asked me if this is how i want to leave Bed Bath & Beyond. I said no there was traffic. She then said you don't want to burn your bridges cause you never know . This felt like a threat to me . After this i found on my desk a copy from her email that someone left for me to see. In the email it said . ( I know its ridiculous and I cant wait for him to leave to. ) Those where her words that she had emailed to the district manager. I am not sure what to do? I do know that what she said is inappropriate . This would not be the first time she has done something bad. At bed bath & beyond we use walkie-talkies for comunication. She has called us out while using the restroom ( what are you doing pooping ). Yes she has asked this over the walkie-talkies. She also has touched me inappropriately. One time her hand grazed my croch and she said (sorry my bad . I am in you bubble). She also pinches fellow employees on the back of there arms eventho we all say don't do that. Some employees bruse, one of the employees had there other employer ask where she got them and she said from my other job. It's that noticeable. She does not act this way around me now. This would also make since why i have never got a promotion or a decent raise . I do have another job lined up I start at Boeing on October 14th. I do not plan to give my 2 week notice. Because I believe she will just fire me when I do give her my 2 weeks. This place is a joke ! What should I do ? Could I contact a lawyer? Should I contact HR ?

Answer:
You should never tell an employer you are "looking" to leave, you just quit when you find a better job. Contact HR if you want, nothing will happen. You have no basis for a law suit - consult with any no-fee consultation laywers local to you to verify if they will take your case. Don't work your two weeks notice, and you will likely have a caution put on your file that you are 'not rehireable" when future employees check for references. This will impact badly on your ability to use your five years work experience with the company on your future applications. "Don't burn your bridges" is not a threat, it is good advice. Actions have repercussions, and there is no going back once the action is taken. Just as you can't 'unburn' a bridge, you can't heal any rift that you leave behind you when you go. The desire for immediate satisfaction should be considered in the light of the potential impact on your future career goals.

IF I was you I would not take any legal action because I would not want any more headaches in my life. October is next month So i would hang in there and Right before I leave the joint I would give her a piece of my mind on how she is behaving like an immature 4 year old and tell her to grow up. Just hang in there believe me one month goes by fast and just avoid giving any hints that you are leaving up until a couple of days before good luck!.
