How do I get a job in Human Resources?

Can a felon get a job as a human resources manager?

  • I have a bachelors degree in psychology however I cannot get a job in that particular field with my felony. I am applying for a pardon through the Governor of Pennsylvania where I live, but the process is very long and can take years. In the mean time I am thinking about going back to school for my masters degree in Employment and Labor relations. I know I cannot work for the government or any financial institution however I was wondering if there were other human resources manager jobs that I can get? And with having a felony can I work for or in a Union?? Please if anyone knows I would love your advise. Thank you

  • Answer:

As far as I know there are no rules against. BUT keep in mind HR jobs are actually pretty high in demand.. alot of people want the job because of the pay but there are not a lot of jobs out there as companies are downsizing. I would definitely get your masters that will show you have moved past your bs in the past and are ready to get your life on the right path.. the more schooling the better position you will be in. But legally I would like to think yes you can.

There are going to be very few Masters level HR jobs that would hire you with a felony record.
