How do I become a lawyer in the UK?

How can a Mexican lawyer become qualified to pratice law in the UK?

  • My boyfriend is Mexican and has a Mexican law degree. He is currently working as a lawyer for the Mexican state and I was wondering what he would need to do to move to the UK and practice law here. He currently only holds an undergrad law degree which is enough to work as a lawyer in Mexico but I'm guessing it wouldn't be for England, and also I imagine the fact that the laws differ from country to country would be an issue as well as the language barrier. He does speak English and I have seen a course online for Law-specific English lessons/exam which would lead to a a tefl qualification. If anyone know which other qualifications he would need I would really appreciate it, thank you! For example would he need an LLM?

    he is already qualified, but to practice law in uk, he will need to take the Uk Bar exam

Your boyfriend may well be able to email them also and get advice. maybe the language thing can be an asset has in he can speak Spanish? and his english will soon improve once here and working. hope this helps
