Corporate Lawyer Question?

Question about Disability Lawyer?

  • Okay so, I moved out of state, and my Lawyers assistant told me I need to find a new disability lawyer, and they cannot help me since I move out of state. Well it turns out I cannot speak to a new lawyer until I get proof that my previous lawyer has terminated or let me go. So I called back to my old lawyer office and asked if they could mail me the proof that I am no longer with that lawyer, they said they would mail it out. Well since then I have not been able to get in contact with his assistant or the lawyer in 3 months and I have received no mail from them.(I call and leave emails everyday). I am only able to get in touch with the front desk, which always says his assistant is not in, and you can leave a message. This is really unprofessional of them. What Can I do or does anyone have any suggestions?

  • Answer:

If you have already identified an attorney in your new state, maybe they can call your former attorney and get the ball moving. I'm assuming that the attorney you want to work with now isn't going to get paid until this happens - so they should be motivated if they want to be paid.
