Can someone tell me about Job corps?

I believe I'm being treated unfairly at my job. Can someone tell what to do? I have been at my current job for?

  • almost 4 years. I am a Senior assistant manager. Well I applied for another job at a local bank back in May. Well I had an interview, which I believe went well. But was told it would be 4 weeks before the position came open. Well 4 weeks came and went. I finally got that phone call 2 weeks ago. The man asked if he could call my supervisor. I gave him the go ahead. Well of course my supervisor didn't know that I had applied for the job. Immediately after she spoke with him, she called me and demanded an explanation and a date of my resignation. I explained to her that I had not been offered the job, much less a 2nd interview. Well my office manager was out on vacation in Mexico that week, my supervisor informed me that I was the one responsible for telling my manager she returned the following Monday. She also flat out told me I needed to give my manager my decision/resignation that Monday also. Well come monday morn, my manager stormed through the door in a really BAD mood. She already knew because my supervisor called her right before she was boarding the plane to Mexico. She asked me that afternoon what I was going to do. I told her that after he talked to the supervisor I hadn't heard back from him. I'm assuming they gave him a bad referance. Well the very next morning she put up a help wanted sign in the window. What's up with that? Why? I haven't heard anything back from them yet. Not a 2nd interview, nothing. My manager has asked every single morning "Have you heard anything?" the answer is still no I have not. Well on a conferance call this afternoon with 10 other assistants I was the one being ridiculed while she baring said a word to the others. I was told I'm not good enough on the phone mind you, with 10 other people. I feel like they are trying to go ahead and force me to resign, when the bank hasn't called. I'm tired of the sudden change of treatment the past two weks. What can I do? The person I would report the problem to, is the one that's the problem. Someone give me some advice. Aren't their laws against this? Is this retaliation? HELP ME, MY SANITY DEPENDS ON THIS!

I am totally confused. Is the job at a local bank you applied for a job, the same bank/company you currently work for or a competing bank? If you have worked for Chase bank as an example and applied for a position with Huntington bank, then yes they have a reason to be upset. You have applied for either better benefits, money or a better position than you currently have and this is their competition. By looking for another job, you in effect have stated I am unhappy here and want out, so they are encouraging you to do so, since now they know you are un-loyal and not trustworthy. If this was the case, you should have never gave your permission for the call to your supervisor, since many people when they look to leave a company don't want their employer to know just for those reasons, plus if you don't get the job, then they know you are looking. But say this is Chase bank again as an example and are applying to another Chase bank that has a better location or higher position w/in the company, then they may have in place certain procedures you must follow. IE: notify your immediate boss of your desire to apply for this position and/or may have to get permission to move to another branch so they can take steps while a decision is made and also would prepare your boss, so that they would be ready with your prior reviews with the company etc. If w/in the company, you may have overstepped your bounds w/out telling them ahead of time. But I suspect that this is with a competitor and they would have grounds to be upset. Just bide your time and hope that the other job comes through, since you will just have to suck it up till then. good luck
