What can I do in PTO meeting?

Do I include or exclude lunch breaks in my PTO hours?

  • Regular day is 8 hrs long. We get a paid lunch break of one hour. If I need to take the morning off and return to work in the afternoon, how many hours would I need to put down for PTO? 8:30-4:30pm - I return to work at 1:30. So that is 5 hours BUT I get an hour for lunch, so would my PTO then be for 4 hours? What if I came to work at 11:30? Would I then only need to account for 2hrs of PTO? Or came in at 3:30, would I have to take 7 PTO hours or only 6? Same thing in reverse - if i work 8:30-1:30pm, without taking my lunch break, would my PTO be 4 or 5 hours? Technically a full day is 8 hours, so if you left work for a half day or returned to work for a half day, you would assume then that it would be 4 hours. So I wouldn't be paid for my hour lunch then?

Depends on company policy. Ask your supervisor.

Logically, only people working a full day get a paid lunch break

This is entirely up to the company.
