How can I make my job application stand out?

Will calling to check up on job application show the manager i really want the job?does it make a difference?

• i been filling out job application online since december 2009.i wait for them to call me but they don't i never had a job before i guess i need job experience? i recently filled job application at the following locations:mcdonalds,american greetings,pizza hut,holly theaters,sonic,and walmart.a week pass have not heard from no of them.christmas was last week & tomorrow is new years eve maybe that's why they didn't call?i want to call them but i don't want them to think im desperate,my friend told me you got to harass them to show that you want it,im so confused,also im senior in high school,but i go to night school to make up my credits & i don't graduate until december 2011 and so i really don't know what to put on an application when its says ''current school''.please help

  Calling every couple of weeks will often get you the job. I've done it. It tells them you seriously want this job. Where it says current school, put your current school, or name of program, such as "my high school night courses." Where it says "availability," make sure to allow for adequate travel time, as well as the time you are in class.
