I was denied my unemployment benefits.

Unemployment benefits denied because of school attendance, how to appeal?

  • I separated from the military with an honorable discharge and applied for unemployment benefits. I was granted benefits while attending school full-time. After a few months I was notified that my school interferes with my ability to accept full-time work and they denied me any benefits. I have re-applied for UI several months later and it says I am qualified for emergency tier 1 benefits. I went to go file my weekly claim and the old action of denial is still there stating that school work does not allow me to work full time. I am not attending school this semester. Will they allow me to continue to receive benefits if I appeal?

  • Answer:

Thank you for your service. That sounds weird, I receive workers comp from WV and they are telling me to go to school in fact the letter said I can keep my benefits and not have to look for a job until the benefit weeks run out. I would call them and look into it. What state are you in?
