What to say when calling about a job application status?

What would be the appropriate thing to say calling up regarding a job application?

• Okay I applied for a few jobs about a week ago online, the one that I realllyyy want is at a lingerie store, I'm nearly 19 and I'm a female by the way. Anyway it's been a week and on their website it still says "applied" under the status, if I was declined it would say declined. I want to call them today to ask about my progress but I don't know what to say, I need to call them today because I don't want to leave it for them to decline me, maybe over the phone they'll hear I'm friendly and nice and consider giving me a job interview, so I need to call them.. Any advice would be great. Thanks!
