What are my legal rights?

Casual worker.. in this situation, what are my legal rights?

• I am a casual worker at a retail store in New Zealand... I’m pretty sure that the legal rights (work wise) are very similar to Australia or the US in my country. I have been sick for the past week. I rang my work the day I got sick and told them I was unable to work for the next week. (It was only two shifts that I would be missing anyway and the first shift I missed was not for several days so I had given plenty of notice) I also told them that I have a doctor’s certificate to prove that I have been unwell and unfit to work. Today is the last day off that my doctors certificate covers so I have called my boss to let her know I will be in tomorrow with my certificate and that I am fit to work again. In return I have been called Unreliable, a Liar and that I will not be getting anymore hours for the next week due to this She then added on that i am not fit for this position. I explained that I have legally not done anything wrong and that I have the certificate to prove my sickness so I find this unfair and unprofessional. My boss then went on to say that the fact that I did not show her the doctors certificate earlier is also a reason as to why I am a "liar". I have said back to her that legally I am not obligated to hand in the certificate until my return to work and on top of that, how does she expect me to drive to work to hand it in if I’m too sick to go to work? Let alone get out of bed? I have contacted my big boss explaining the situation telling her I don’t appreciate being called a liar or unreliable when indeed I have done nothing wrong. I am now waiting for a call back from her but I have a very strong feeling that given the fact that my boss and even bigger boss are quite close outside of work I’m not going to get anywhere with this... If I were a part time worker or a full time worker I would know my rights but the fact that I’m a casual worker makes it a bit tricky. I work in a retail store and I get hours every week but they just change around each week. I am quite new to this job and unfortunately this serious problem is the first I have had with it... I know I should start looking for a new job, but in the time being, does anyone know my rights or what I should do? I guess my problem is that I need the hours and the money so I’m really pissed off that I have no hours now when I haven’t done one single thing wrong. It’s almost like she expects me to say, “Oh, OK... I’m sorry. Let me just bend over and kiss your *** for you”!!! **Just to add, I am the youngest person at my work (18) so I feel like maybe the fact that I don’t bend over and kiss her *** gets to her quite a bit...
