How do I quit my job?

How to quit this job? Help please.?

  • I took a Christmas job just for the holidays, until my universities classes started again. The job is only suppose to be for a certain length of time, but management keeps extending it. I really, really dislike this job, I don't have any benefits, work thirteen hours a day, one day off a week and my coworkers are horrible...They're always talking about sex, and unprofessional things that make me uncomfortable, and they are to "touchy-feely". Its like the supervisors and people that work their are all perverts who try to see how easy the new female employees are. I come home miserable and crying. My father is money obsessed and wants me to keep working. I don't want to give up college for a non-stable well paying job...but I don't know how to quit in good standing. I'm miserable, and I have no interest in the work that I'm doing, but I am grateful enough to appreciate being hired, that I just don't want to leave without saying something. I never quit a job before, because I am very hardworking and don't like to give up, but I'm suffering emotionally. Help Please.

  • Answer:

You can just write a respectful resignation letter, using your college classes as the reason. Give them a 2-week notice as a courtesy. Make sure to thank them for the opportunity to work for them. Always leave the door open, you never know if you'll need to work with them again. Don't write anything negative, but also don't be a hypocrite by writing you loved the work when you didn't. Hand it out in person to your manager and briefly tell him/her the contents of the resignation letter. Leaving out any negative comments also apply to your personal communication with the manager..

Just tell them "I took this job temporarily and classes are starting again." Tell your father how they treat the female employees.

"Effective immediately, I tender my resignation." No explanation necessary I'm the father of a daughter. If she came home crying about work, something would change.

Hello there. You seem like a very young, sweet and inexperienced girl who is being taken advantaged of. The secret here is to lie. You will need to tell your father the job has ended and there is no more work for you. You need to very politely tell human resources that you will not be able to return to work the following day as there is a family situation to which you must attend to of which you have no control over. They may try to say that you can work fewer days or less hours per day to keep you. Stay strong and tell them it will not work and that you do not see yourself able to work at all for the time being. Do not say anything to anyone about leaving except human resourced at the very end of the day. Make sure you take all personal belongings with you and clear internet and email history. Good luck. Remember. . . be careful what you wish for.

It's time for you to move on. Write up a short, professional, notice letter: Date Company Name Address City, ST Zip Dear (Manager Name), Thank you for hiring me for the holiday season. While working for (company name) I gained knowledge that I will take with me the rest of my life. University classes start (date), so the last day I will be available to work is (date). Sincerely, (Your Name) cc: Human Resources
