I think you are operating under a misconception here! The company is not required to pay you when you are unable to work. It doesn't matter if you are injured on the job or off, the company is only required to pay you for hours you actually perform work. However, if you were injured on the job, it needs to be handled as a workers comp claim. This means you should have gone to their workers comp doctors and they should have turned this in as a claim for workers comp. Your hospital bill would be covered by the insurance carrier. If you have not been provided a form for workers comp, you need to immediately advise them that you need this handled as such. Once you are off work for a certain number of days, it is then worker comp that may or may not compensate you for the lost time from work. Find out who the workers comp carrier is and call them. Good luck!
