• I've seen bios of people who have law degrees, but they work for hospitals, or community organizations. I've also seen people who have law degrees; they work on political campaigns, but don't become politicians. They work in fields that are opposite of what they went to school for; and they serve on boards for corporations/organizations. I'm going back to school and I didn't want to be pigeon holed in my career choice. Do you necessarily HAVE to have a law degree in order take these positions? I like helping people, I know how to write, but I don't want a law degree. How are these people getting these jobs?

  That is not an easy answer. But there are LOTS of things you can do with a law degree - you don't necessarily have to be an Attorney. Sometimes organizations such as hospitals etc. need a lawyer on board so they can seek legal advice any/all the time. BUT....Warning! Jobs in the field of Law are drying up FAST!!! This is not a good field to invest in. Many reasons. Main reason? We simply have WAY TOO MANY Attorneys - we have a GLUT of Lawyers. But the law schools won't tell you this - law students are easy money for them - the law schools keep churning out more and more law graduates even though they know the economy is SATURATED. And even IF you would finish law school, you probably wouldn't be able to find a job when you are done. Plus you'll owe approx $150,000 in school debt. So......as you have seen......law graduates have had to get creative with what to do with their law degrees. Suggestion: Consider the field of Healthcare! <<< LOTS of jobs there! and scholarships! The field of Healthcare is HOT!
