What are the steps to becoming a chef?

Thinking about becoming a chef. what steps do i take?

  I agree with culinary schools, plus work in a restaurant. There was a story about a chef in our paper a while back. His first restaurant job was a bus-boy. One night, a waiter didn't show up, so he was promoted to waiter. Another night he ended up helping in the kitchen and stayed there and eventually became head chef. Basically, he was able to work his way up because he showed up to work on time, didn't miss work to often and was willing to do what was asked.
