What would it take to get and keep a good job?

Should i take the job if im offered it?

• iwas asked to see the manager of a pizza takeaway about my first job (im 16). he scared me when we had the first talk and made me cry he just seems nasty. he asked me to do training but he wasnt there for the training i just got trained by another cashier. i was nervous and did rubbish because im not confident and couldnt hear people on the phone. the people there seemed to get quite annoyed at me and i came home crying once again. because the manager wasnt there for training i dont know if ill have to go back or what will happen now. will he ring me or what? i just feel like its not right for my first job, and i dont want a job where i come home and cry everyday plus its minimum wage which i wouldnt mind if the job was ok. my mum and dad keep getting mad because im saying i dont want to go back because ive been after a job for a long time. i dont want to let them down and they will get really angry but ive dreaded going so much, and the 3 hours of training went slow and i think ill just hate it. id prefer to try harder and find a job elsewhere. plus ive heard stories of how theyve shouted at staff there and sacked people. I have no people skills, im not confident, im a slow learner and i twitch when i feel uncomfortable. i'm going to have to answer the phone and tap all these options on the screen but it all seems complicated and im scared he will shout. i know you arent supposed to love your job but i do voluntary work at a cafe which isnt amazing but i quite like it and id like a job that i at least dont hate. the staff yesterday just seemed to whisper about how scared i looked. its really cramped and small, too. plus today i feel really ill and i think its down to how stressed ive being getting over it. will they ring me or what? shall i take the job? what do i say to them! PLUS i think the shifts are friday and saturday nights. i only see my boyfriend twice a week one of the days being a saturday night. i know it sounds silly but i dont want that taken away, and i dont want my weekends, the only times i have free to be unenjoyable. i stay in school until 5 most weekdays and i just feel like it will all become too much, i also have my exams coming in a couple of months.

  This pizza place sounds horrible, dont work somewhere you dont feel comfortable with. You shouldnt have to go through any of that and especially when you have just been training. Its okay to feel like this but eventually you will need to gain some confidence and people skills as this is an necessity to all jobs. Since you have been doing voluntary work for a cafe, why dont you go in and ask the manager if there are any available positions you could apply for. Surely they would give you a permanent job. Dont be afraid of your parents, you just need to let them know exactly what you have written down here and tell them that you will continue finding a job and that you will also go talk to the manager of the cafe. Unfortunately as a student you wont have much say as to what days you have to work but eventually as you work at the place for a while they may negotiate with you. Maybe even just wait until your exams are over and explain to your parents that you would like to focus on your studies and feel that if you get a job you will be distracted. Whatever it is im sure things will work out for you. Good luck with job hunting :)
