How can I make my job application stand out?

I'm turning in my very first job application tomorrow and I really want to make an impression?

  • I am 15 and I'm turning in my first job application tomorrow at a frozen yogurt place that hasn't opened yet. A few of my friends have turned in applications and it would be awesome if we could all work together. But, of course, I would love to get the job myself for sure! What are ways I can start a little conversation about the job, etc? I really want to make an impression. I'm mature for my age and I look older than I am so I'm not like some irresponsible kid. I really want this job. I want to work a lot! I want to work a few days of the week from like 3 to 8 and a long time on a saturday or sunday. Not sure yet! Anyhow yeah so any advice would be much appreciated! <3

  • Answer:

    - do not turn in the application with friends - dress nicely when you turn in your application - ALWAYS have a resume on hand when giving applications back to employers - and once you've turned it in call a week later and asked if they have received your application. - also you might want to research on the company, ESPECIALLY if they call you back for an interview. - and make sure to dress professional for the interview. and to make a resume just go online and look up resume templates. make sure it is neat, and use bullets and tell them short things. like: - i've volunteered at the boys and girls club on feb 15th to the 16th of march do not tell lies on the resume, they might call the club and if you think you don't have any skills, guess again. if you ever worked on a group project all your own, that is a skill. also make sure to make a professional email, so that they'll take you seriously. good luck ;]

Cool! I got my first job at 15 as well, it was at a pizzeria!...anyways: -Dress casual but nice (don't wear sweats or anything like that) -Bring a resume...since you have never had a job, try to include activities or clubs you are currently in...you can talk about such activities and tell them what role you play. *You should also indicate that such activities will not interfere with working hours* -Be at least 5 min early for the interview...don't just rush in there -If you live close to the yogurt place...emphasize that (esp. if you are walking distance)...a lot! They want to hire ppl they can rely on coming into work on time...and since you probably can not drive they want local high school kids. -If they ask any questions about you...tell them your hobbies and what your favorite subject is (that's what they asked me on my 1st job b/c I had no working experience) - And Lastly...if you REALLY want to impress...write a simple thank you letter to the person who took the time out to interview you (IMO you will totally get the job if you do this...do not tell your friends to do this or else its effect on the employer will diminish...its OK to be selfish in cases like these lol) ...Good Luck!

Don't expect to get the job if all of your buddies are going to be working there. Do NOT make a resume. Resumes are for jobs with suits. All they want is an application.
