Tips for a first-time waitress?

Is it better to work for tips better than minimum wage? (waitress help)?

• I am undecided about the job i would like to have. I feel I should be a waitress because i love to work with people and i am good with hospitality work. but i know that they get paid very little per hour so i would like to know if even though thats true does the tips pay better? such as more then minimum wage? and also i would like to know more the tips from someone who has been or is a waitress now. what is the experience like? are the tips great? how do they know how much tips you get? do you give the tips to them and they put it in your pay check? any answers will help thanks!

  I was a waiter at applebee's in a larger city for a while. I earned over min wage and they have cheap food and drinks. If you work for a higher end joint you will make more. It's a pretty fun job and you will meet new friends.
